How to Get Started with the Quilt Chrome Extension
Follow these steps to set up and begin using the Quilt extension with Google Sheets. You can watch a video version of this article here.
1. Download the Extension
Head to the Chrome Web Store and add the Quilt extension to your Chrome.
2. Sign Into Quilt
Once the extension is installed, authenticate your Quilt account by signing in.
3. Open the Extension in Google Sheets
Next, open the Google Sheet that contains the questions you’d like to populate. Launch the Quilt extension from the side panel of your browser.
| Tip: You may need to reload the Google Sheet to ensure the extension recognizes it.
Sheets: Questionnaire Assistant
1. Input the Sheet Layout
If the extension doesn’t automatically detect the layout of your sheet:
Specify the columns for questions, question details, and answers.
For example:
Question Column: B
Question Details Column: A
Answer Column: C
Save your layout configuration.
2. Select the Cells to Answer
Highlight the cells in the question column (e.g., B2 to B8) and their corresponding answer cells (e.g., C2 to C8). This tells Quilt where to populate the answers.
3. Watch Them Populate
Once set, Quilt will process the selected questions and populate the answers directly into the designated cells.
If Quilt is unable to answer a question, you can:
Manually review and provide an alternative response.
Save your answer to the Answer Bank for future use.
4. Review the Outputs in the Sheet
After the answers are populated:
Upvote or downvote answers to provide feedback.
Save high-quality answers to the Answer Bank.

| Tip: Uploading the reviewed Sheet into Quilt will let you take advantage of the knowledge you build up with its help.
Chat Assistant
1. Select the Knowledge Assistant (chat) in the extension sidebar.
2. Choose a question to ask Quilt.
You can highlight text on the page and it will automatically show up in the question field. You can also modify it to fit your query better. Note: the highlighting functionality does not work in the Google Suite apps (Sheets, Docs).
3. Use the icons below the answer to interact with it.
◻️ Clipboard: Copy Quilt's response to clipboard to reuse it elsewhere.
👍 Upvote: If a Quilt's response is good, upvote it to make us understand your answer preferences.
👎 Downvote: Similarly, if a response is bad (incomplete, incorrect, or else), let us know.
🗑️ Delete: Clears the question-answer pair from the chat history.
🖊️ Edit: Lets you edit Quilt's output in the extension sidebar.
☁️ Upload: Uploads the response to the answer bank.
🔢 Numbers: Represent the snippets from source documents Quilt used to answer the question.

The extension offers additional functionality, such as:
Vendor Portal: Auto-detect vendor portal questions and review the answers in the sidebar.
Document Uploads: Upload documents for future use without leaving the extension.
